Sunday post January 19

At the time of writing, I am on my way to South Africa where Miska and I are celebrating 10 years together!

But I struggled all the way into the tile before we went last night, so I still have a work week to offer this Sunday;)

For the next two weeks, there will be no Sunday posts (just regular posts) because I have a holiday until January 30.

New goal picture 2020!

Normally, during the summer, we usually make a goal picture for 1 year ahead, but this year we set the goal picture only until December 2019 because we had some things that we had to get in order before we could set the goal for 2020.

En av dom punkterna var “sätta en roligare målbild för 2020” haha och nu har vi gjort det!

The target image for 2020 is peppery and it feels good in my stomach when I read it :)

Den är indelad i några punkter under målbild/vision, alltså en bild av hur vi vill ha företaget. Lite mer diffus och känslosam. Samt några mätbara mål som är konkreta och mer “svartvita”.

We first had individual staff meetings with each person and then a joint meeting of all of them.

It went really well! We are a good team!

Podcast recording!

This Tuesday morning Tommy came to the salon and we recorded a podcast in our staff room. I wrote more about the pod in this post om ni vill läsa om den. Eller lyssna direkt genom att söka på “Effektiv på riktigt” på Acast eller Podcaster eller liknande poddapp (ej Spotify).

The podcast is mostly for Tommy's company, but the purpose for me is that it's so incredibly educational! I think long term :)

Jag skulle vilja ha bättre ljud på något vänster, det är jättebra när Tommy pratar men min röst skär igenom glas och bevisligen även poddmickar. Jag vill ju förgylla podden men kontrasten av en “ung och driven entreprenörtjej” men ibland blir jag rädd att folk inte orkar lyssna p.g.a. min röst haha. Jag höjer Tommys ljudspår till max och sänker mitt ljudspår med 50%, men det är ändå lite skränigt och eko när jag pratar.

“can you talk lower? ” Tommy asked me once, in a nice way haha. And yes I can, but I have a hard time getting my personality out then. I do not want to sound boring and monotonous either :)

Then I sat and cut the pod immediately afterwards! I had to hurry so that both Tommy and I would have time to listen through the finished cut and publish before we take a vacation.

Job interview

Another thing we talked about at the meeting is what Miska and I did last Monday - had a meeting with a possible future colleague! We need to be one more person this summer as it is our high season and our makeup artist Lisa will be on maternity leave longer than we had thought.

She has worked in the beauty industry before and is used to taking customers and the whole bit, so it feels promising! Nothing is clear yet but it's fun to meet new and talented people who are passionate about the same things we do :) I already followed her on Instagram so it was very fun!

Improvements, improvements, improvements

In last Sunday's post I wrote that the year has started very productively, we have started many projects that we were in a bit of a hurry to tie the knot on before the holiday now haha.

Finare salon: Our web shop has received a makeover (not 100% finished yet) but we will also put our teeth into the salon! We moved a little in stress a year ago and took furniture from the old premises and put it in order as best we could. And it has been nice absolutely, but not so the dot over in :)

So this week Miska got a spontaneous jerk and went to IKEA and bought new curtains and then we ordered new seating and tables for our waiting corner. Pink velvet chairs, and dark gray curtains! It will be so nice!

He tried to get express delivery but unfortunately we did not have time to get them before the trip .. But here he is unpacking the puff + tray that had time to arrive anyway:

We thought of having this as a table between the chairs! You will see pictures of the result when we get home! :)

Extended product range: We also want to start renewing the product range again, there have been a lot of outgoing products (involuntarily) recently and almost no news.

Last week we launched the tweezers from Brow Game and this week we got home new lash serums + a little more to test from the brand L4L. Coming to the webshop soon!

Both Olga and Zahra have tested the lash serum for a long time (it is Olga who tipped us all about it as it is big in Poland) and they both like it very much so it is already in store and soon in the web shop as well.

In addition, I will put their mascara to the test, which should also be great, but whether it qualifies in the range or not remains to be seen;)

It was not so long since we launched these new eyeshadows from Paese! This picture is from my Insta Story this week :) Paese's eye shadows have always sold well but I never think we sold as many as when this news came!

New treatments: I wrote about brow lift already in last Sunday's post and now we have prepared everything so that we will hopefully offer this treatment in time until Miska and I come home from vacation!

When we are away, the makeup artists make their own exercise models and when they feel ready, I have prepared a price list etc. and then they publish this offer:

Personal development: In the target picture, we are talking about evaluating more new treatments, not because we really need it at the salon but for personal development of the makeup artists. There you are different, some like to focus on a few treatments while others have to develop and vary the tasks more to feel good.

So there is no need to start with more new stuff, but if someone is driven and wants to learn something new, we will support it and help with everything we can :)

It's a nightmare that my awesome employees would feel that they are standing still, getting bored and changing jobs. Of course, it is the case in all companies that people come and go (and so it should be) but the experience that each person possesses after several years with our treatments and products, it is hard to beat. And that new staff learn quickly is because they have our old iron gang as coaches.

Sometimes I have thought: what if one gets pregnant, one gets sick and the third wants to quit (the 4th is already on maternity leave for over another year). Then I would probably rather have collapsed the salon completely than start over with just new staff haha.

Speaking of which, I did lash lift and lash paint at Olga before the trip now (look so nice, is completely unmade up in the picture, but have tattooed eyeliner and light inliner as well) and saw in the booking system that she did 1500 lash lift treatments since she started with us! That's 1875 hours with the same treatment. No wonder she is so good;)

In other words: Updated web shop, product range, treatments and salon! This is going to be a fresh year! :) For the sake of rarity, we do not have that many financial goals this year, but if you update things around, maybe the increase in finances will come in handy. We hope.

Tie the bag together before the holiday

January is a very good holiday month in ordinary cases, calm at work and nice weather to go away from.

Men jag blev nästan lite stressad (eller fick en spark i baken bara?) av att året började med bara 2,5 vecka och sen POFF är det februari när vi kommer hem. Det är så mycket som jag tänkt “om jag inte gör det nu så blir det inte förrän i februari”.

This mainly applies to my own make-up brand I look at, I was hoping to get the ball rolling with the producer contacts because there is a lot of waiting anyway (waiting for answers, waiting for samples, etc.). But I did not succeed because not everyone is as fast as me at responding to emails;) I am waiting for a sample package e.g. and would only pay for the shipping but have not received the payment information so now it was not ordered before we leave. Typical! It would have been nice to come home to! :)

But just before I left, I answered all the emails, delegated the last things to my colleagues and put non-urgent things on an after-vacation list.

So now I feel ready for vacation ♥

Speaking of emails, I'm not one who carelessly answers when people ask for make-up tips, but there are often long essays and attached pictures haha. Here I am at the salon this week and taking color samples for a customer who is going to shop in our web shop, she wanted the eye shadow in the middle and the rest are different lipsticks that fit.

We are not just an ordinary web shop;)

Oh what it feels like this week's pictures just became selfies in different situations haha! Aja you can not get to it all the time :)

No corner I have more to chat about but at the time of writing it is Saturday morning (the post is timed) and I have 2.5 hours to do the rest of my to-do list before it falls into people at children's parties here (Mileya turned 1 year old on Wednesday !!) and then at 15 we go to the airport. And I have not even began pack yet! So I have to finish the post now.
